Dr. Sam Ison

""A Powerful Start to the School Year" Andy Olds did an outstanding job leading our Wayne Local Schools Opening Day Ceremony for the 2026–27 school year. From the very beginning, Andy had our staff engaged, laughing, thinking, and—most importantly—reflecting on why we chose education in the first place. What made Andy’s presentation so effective was that it was much more than a motivational speech. He created an experience that connected directly to our work with students. His emphasis on relationships, authenticity, finding our “why,” and remembering that “winning kids” is more important than simply winning games gave our teachers meaningful takeaways that they can take with them into their classrooms every day. Andy also did an exceptional job getting our staff involved. The activities and personal stories made the message memorable and created opportunities for our staff to connect with one another. His message about building trust through connection, care, and genuine relationships aligned perfectly with our district’s belief that relationships come first. I could not have asked for a better way to begin our school year. Andy brought energy, humor, passion, and a powerful message to our staff. He reminded us that what we do matters—and that the relationships we build with students may be the most important thing we do all year. Thank you, Andy, for helping our staff start the 2026–27 school year with the right mindset and a renewed sense of purpose. You truly helped make our Opening Day special."
